Decision Time PDF Print E-mail
Rich and TomSam was, until this summer, a cynical atheist. He knew Tim Moyler who works with Agapé in London, and for some reason he had gone along to church with him. Upon hearing someone speaking from the Bible there, knew there and then that he had to give his life to Jesus. Later, Rich Boothroyd, who works on the Agapé team in Oxford where Sam studies, got a call from him out the blue: "Can you help me reach the rest of my college?" So Sam and two other students from Oxford, Tom and Simon, started meeting with Rich and Egbert. When Rich explained what Agapé do, Simon immediately responded, "I think I need that!" Rich and Simon soon went out to do some evangelism together , and surveyed a Chinese student called Garry who decided to become a Christian there and then. But they could not talk through the Knowing God Personally booklet fast enough - he was so eager and impatient to become a Christian! Since then Rich and Tom Maj (pictured, on the right) have been meeting Garry to go through the CONNECT studies. “It's amazing to see him just 'get' the concepts it looks at as the Holy Spirit reveals it to him,” says Tom.

Meanwhile, in Birmingham, a Sikh student who kept having dreams about heaven and hell a few months ago has recently arrived at his decision. After a week of the troublesome dreams in the spring, his friend John told him that he just needed to make a decision either to accept Christ or reject him. Thankfully he chose to receive Christ! This is a courageous step, as it could potentially cost him his family relationships when he tells them what he has done. But as Andy Moules, serving with Agapé in Austria would say, Sikh and you will find.

There seems to have been something of a rush to get into heaven’s gates recently, with four more students at Warwick receiving Christ this month that we know of, as the Christian students there continue to go valiantly sharing in Action Groups every day.

In November alone, at least fifteen people in total have reportedly stepped into life with Jesus, encouraged by the ministry of Agapé. Some of those have been as a member of Agapé directly shares the gospel with a student, but many have been through Christian students boldly daring to put into practice the training and encouragement they’re receiving, and sharing the gospel with their friends, housemates and fellow students.
