Towards student-led in Lithuania

The team in Vilnius (Lithuania) desires that the ministry would really be a student-led ministry. They experience encouraging things in this direction. Four years ago in an Alfa group, Judita received salvation. Now she herself is leading an Alfa group with eight students.

Irena, is a student, who Agape staff Radvile and Renata met last year. She started to grow in Christ and witness to others. She is really a leader; students follow her and listen to her. Irena realizes Christ‘s call to be light and she initiates conversations with her friends and classmates. This week, she‘ll also begins a small group in her dorm where they‘ll do Alfa courses.

The challenge to be accepted as an organization

After many years, thoughts, and prayers, Jolita and the team in Vilnius finally got an invitation to meet the Students’ Unions president. They had the chance to discuss the possibility of being registered as an organization working in the University area, like their club. Jolita writes:
"We really didn’t know what to expect on this Thursday in the meeting with top students leaders. Dovile, Irena and I faced a really skeptical view of few unbelievers. The 2 student leaders asked some questions about our motivation and also talked a lot about tolerance. Being excepted as a Christian group on Campuses, they would consider it as intolerance to other religious groups. Most interesting was that they mostly talked about their own inside doubts about Christianity. We talked about their experience, and how scared they are that we will try to push people to believe, just because that somebody did in their childhood. After talking what is our purpose, they changed a bit their opinion about us and gave us the right to write the paper to the Students Parliament and later if all will go well, we will face as they said '44 or more unbelievers, skeptics and we will have to strongly defend what we would do on Campuses.' They said it won’t be easy for us, just because we are Christians. Irena and Dovile boldly answered their questions and after the meeting were so encouraged to face this challenge."

Please pray: • That Agape would be registered as a Vilnius University club • That young men would know Christ and be involved in Agape • That the summer students‘ camp would be fruitful and that we could get to know and witness to a large group of freshman students. The team has the opportunity to serve with the Effective Study seminar in several camps. • That each staff member would have the needed financial support
