Martin and Rachel Riddall are getting everyone else to do the work for them in Bristol, with some great results. They are giving away their work, materials and ideas like there’s no tomorrow. They have passed on the mammoth task of following up four hundred students in Bristol to the Christian students on campus. Almost a thousand students were surveyed and asked if they would like to hear about Jesus in the few weeks of term, and around almost half of them indicated that they would. The Riddalls, being a team of only two (until they’re joined by Ben who is currently raising support) realised that they could not do this on their own. The troops in Bristol were mobilised, and the Christians on campus got busy emailing, texting and calling the contacts that were made in order to meet them again.

“On one of the follow up appointments that have been made, a girl called Helen took her housemate Sarah to meet an interested first year,” explains Martin. “During their conversation Helen gave the girl a chance to read the Knowing God Personally booklet. They worked through the pages and got to the questions that enabled their new friend to decide that she wanted to become a Christian, so they all prayed together. They are now working through John’s Gospel together and a new life has begun,” says Martin. “And she has never heard of Agapé and does not know who Martin and Rachel Riddall are!”

Martin has also been meeting with church leaders, one of whom asked for help developing a survey to use with students. Martin gladly offered him one of Agapé’s Spiritual Belief Surveys to get him started. The church worker has since started going out each week to survey students, and one person has become a Christian already as a result.
